Preparing Tomorrow’s Literacy Leaders

Our University Collaboration program equips pre-service and in-service teachers with the knowledge and tools to deliver structured linguistic literacy instruction through Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction™ (EBLI®). In partnership with universities, we’re enhancing teacher preparation programs and building a robust workforce pipeline of future literacy leaders.

Through this initiative, we:

• Train pre-service and in-service teachers in EBLI’s structured literacy approach, ensuring they graduate classroom-ready.
• Provide college students with hands-on experience as literacy tutors, working directly with struggling readers in schools and community settings.
• Develop and certify literacy coaches, creating paid, career-focused roles for college students who want to pursue education, public service, social services.

This collaboration supports first-generation and underserved college students by offering paid workforce development opportunities, professional mentorship, and nationally recognized EBLI certification.

By investing in these future educators, we are helping to close the literacy gap while also launching meaningful careers.

​Together with our university partners, WSFL is shaping a generation of skilled literacy coaches who will bring evidence-based instruction from the classroom to the community—creating long-term, systemic change in education.
